083 Defining the immune response in basal cell carcinoma spontaneous regression

In the US, more people are diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma (BCC) than any other cancer, but treatment of advanced tumors is frequently complicated by drug resistance. Interestingly, 20-29% human BCC reported to shrink spontaneously in absence through an unknown mechanism. With case studies suggesting a role for immune activation this tumor regression, we hypothesize that T cells recruited growing BCCs promote spontaneous shrinkage. The inducible Gli1CreERT2; Ptch fl/fl transgenic mouse model shows microtumor growth skin followed significant reduction (p<0.001) area after 10 weeks. Using regression treatment, assess system interactions promoting mechanism and as potential therapeutic target.
